Great producers, great tracks!

Don Was
Sometimes even the best artists can't break through until they work with the right producer. Take Bonnie Raitt -- who, despite nine fine albums, was still more or less a cult figure.

Her 10th album, Nick of Time, produced by Don Was, won the 1989 Grammy for Album of the Year, and catapulted her to broader fame. That was no coincidence.

This week's Big Fat Wide Americana Hour presents a couple of great songs from each of three of the most successful music producers ever -- Willie Mitchell, Don Was and Owen Bradley.

Plus, of course, our usual eclectic variety -- soul, americana, folk, blues, country and more. Some of it classic. Some of it brand new!

Delbert McClinton * John Mellencamp

Al Green * Ray Charles

Matt Patershuk * Amelia White

Patsy Cline * Crystal Gayle

Peter Wolf * Emily Barker

And so many more. Don't miss it.  Hear it here. And turn it up!

Gentle On Our Minds

Glen Campbell
Glen Campbell rose from small-town Arkansas to the top of the music world, selling more than 45 million records and having no fewer than 80 of his songs make it onto one chart or another.

And at the end, when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease, he bravely shared the diagnosis with the public, recorded an album, and embarked on a farewell tour of the world.

For all that he is familiar to us, he had a bigger hand in shaping modern American music than many of us realize. Before he hit the big-time, he was a session musician much in demand for his guitar skills. He backed up stars too numerous to list -- Sam Cooke, Frank Sinatra, the Beach Boys, the Righteous Brothers, Dean Martin, the Monkees and on and on.

The Big Fat Wide Americana Hour is celebrating the life and music of Glen Campbell, through his songs and those of others. Join us, won't you? As one and all lift their voices and make a joyful noise.

See you there. Click here to hear the show.

Bruce Springsteen
Yes, we've reached back to The Spencer Davis Group, for "Keep On Running," as we bring you the widest variety

That was originally a Jamaican ska song.

And we've got a few songs where
the backup singer was as famous
as the lead performer -- or even more so.

in the background there on a Joe Ely song?
Sure is.

Among the other performers featured this week:

Gladys Knight, Rhiannon Giddens, Marvin Gaye
