Glen Campbell |
Glen
Campbell rose from small-town Arkansas to the top of the music world, selling
more than 45 million records and having no fewer than 80 of his songs make it
onto one chart or another.
And at
the end, when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease, he bravely shared the
diagnosis with the public, recorded an album, and embarked on a farewell tour
of the world.
For all
that he is familiar to us, he had a bigger hand in shaping modern American
music than many of us realize. Before he hit the big-time, he was a session
musician much in demand for his guitar skills. He backed up stars too numerous
to list -- Sam Cooke, Frank Sinatra, the Beach Boys, the Righteous Brothers,
Dean Martin, the Monkees and on and on.
The Big Fat Wide Americana Hour is celebrating the life and music of Glen Campbell, through his songs
and those of others. Join us, won't you? As one and all lift their voices and
make a joyful noise.
See you
there. Click here to hear the show.
